The scientists on board the Research Vessesl (R/V) Nathaniel B. Palmer conducted the first systematic and comprehensive survey of the fishes of the Sub-Antarctic marine habitat. The international team of scientists, representing the United States, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom, departed from Punta Arenas, Chile, on May 17, 2004 and completed the cruise upon arrival in Cape Town, South Africa, on July 17, 2004.
